Vehicle speed detector v2
Two infrared beams across the lane, a known distance apart. A vehicle breaks beam A, then beam B, and the time between them gives its speed. v1 stopped there. v2 also works out what kind of vehicle it was, how close it was following the vehicle ahead, and keeps the numbers a traffic engineer need…
Smart parking system
A 6-slot car park with an entry barrier, an exit barrier, and a display that always shows the real number of free spaces. It's the kind of system a municipality, hospital or shopping centre in Kathmandu could use, and it scales up by adding sensors.
Wind direction vane + turbine yaw control
The other half of the college wind turbine idea. It reads where the wind is coming from and turns the turbine to face it. On small turbines a tail fin does this. Bigger machines, or a turbine you want to turn out of a storm on purpose, need a motorised yaw drive, and this is its controller.
Wind turbine controller
I wanted to build a wind turbine project back in college and never finished it. This is that project done properly. It's a controller for a small 300 W to 1 kW turbine charging a 12 V battery bank, like the ones that make sense on windy ridges in the hills, where the grid is weak or doesn't reach.
DC power and energy meter with protection
For solar panels, batteries and DC supplies. It shows volts, amps, watts and watt-hours on a 16x2 LCD and logs CSV over USB. It also switches the load off on over-voltage, over-current, a short circuit or a flat battery.
