Vehicle speed detector v2
Proteus Simulation Arduino
Vehicle speed detector v2
Two infrared beams across the lane, a known distance apart. A vehicle breaks beam A, then beam B, and the time between them gives its speed. v1 stopped there. v2 also works out what kind of vehicle it was, how close it was following the vehicle ahead, and keeps the numbers a traffic engineer need…
Automatic railway level crossing
Proteus Simulation Arduino
Automatic railway level crossing
Automatic barriers where a railway crosses a road. With the Janakpur line running again, and more railway planned in Nepal, village roads will cross tracks in many places where a full-time gateman isn't practical. This controller closes the road for every train and opens it only when it's really…
Smart street light
Proteus Simulation Arduino
Smart street light
A street light that's off in the day and dims itself at night. It only goes to full brightness when the PIR sensor sees someone on the road. On a quiet lane most of the night is spent at 20 to 40 %, so it uses much less energy than a lamp left at 100 %, and the LEDs last longer too.
Water tank level controller
Proteus Simulation Arduino
Water tank level controller
Most houses in Nepal have the same setup: an underground sump (or a boring) and a tank on the roof. Someone has to remember to switch the pump on, and then remember to switch it off. This controller does both. More importantly, it protects the pump, because a motor running dry or against a closed…
